For those that have read previous adventures featuring Mac and Mel (his on and off girlfriend) you will be pleased to see a lot of his old friends woven in to this latest caper. For those that are just starting out With Mac and the gang, you are in for a treat, and will want to gather the entire series for your collection. Mr. Becker manages to weave Big Sugar's role in the decline of the Everglades and Key's environment without seeming preachy, and winds it deeply into the plot. As usual, Mac starts out with a simple project to help out a friend and gets drawn in to a rapidly escalating and complex battle with cheap hoods and the power brokers behind them. Add in a little NASA history, gators and a group of college paintball warriors, and you have the recipe for another fine story that will keep you reading all night if necessary.Product details

As usual Steven Becker, has done it again. I throughly enjoy reading his stories of Mac Travis. Action packed I felt like I was riding along in the boat with Mac. I felt the fire ant bites. Yes I would recommend this book.
I HAVE READ ALL OF STEVEN'S MAC TRAVIS BOOKS. IT IS WELL WRITTEN. I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN FLORIDA AND STILL LIVE HERE. WAS A COMMERCIAL DIVER AND SPORT DIVER ALONG WITH FISHERMAN. I REALLY LIKE THE WAY STEVEN WROTE ABOUT THE GLADES AND THE WATER POLLUTION. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. I CAN'T WEIGHT FOR YOUR NEXT BOOK.

Steven Becker makes all of his Wood's novels fun and suspenseful. I hate when I get to the end of his books because now I have to wait for the next ones to see what these characters are up to . The stories themselves pull you into the action and work your imagination... thank you Steven Becker for keeping my mind active. Great Job.
A Great Florida Keys Adventure Series. I am finding Steven Becker's Mac Travis Adventure series as hard to "put the book down" as I did the Wayne Stinnett, Jesse McDermitt Novel "Caribbean Adventure" Series. Great writing with good plot in each of the books. Super reading for both male/female readers who like some suspense, adventure and a tad of romance thrwn in, but mainy Adventure!
Good old Travis McGee. He is one of my favorite characters and his comings and goings around the keys make me think back to the late '50's when I was stationed in Key West. His investigating situations are always interesting and he and his buddy Trufante really have some great challenges. I fully enjoyed this book and try to read all of Steven Becker's writings.
What are Mac and Mel up to? How does Tru assemble an army of paintball warriors to attempt stopping Big Sugar from destroying Florida’s ecology?

Steven Becker once again weaves our usual cast of characters into a story of greed and excess. A simple request to assist in recovering a snagged net steadily becomes more and more intricately tied into a political and ecological face off over the destruction of the Everglades by big business and the poisoning of the fisheries surrounding the Glades. Mac and his on and off again girlfriend Mel are catapulted into a fight for their lives by Mac's loyalty to his old friend and sometimes first mate Trufante.
We are once again treated to a real page turner by Mr Becker. If you are a fan this is true Becker at his best. If you are just finding your way to the Mac Travis adventures buckle up and enjoy the ride.
